Scruffy was found digging
in a trash can at a carwash, looking for some food. His skin looked like it
had been set on fire; he didn't even look like a dog! He was missing most of
his hair and the little he did have, was matted. Unfortunately, he ran when
we approached, and was hit by a car. Looking at him more closely, we saw one
of his toenails was completely ripped out and he was (of course) full of
worms, fleas, ear mites, and covered in dirt and blood. He was also very
afraid of people! St. Francis's vet says he has a thyroid problem which may
require meds for the rest of his life. He's using 3 different medications
right now and needs to go back to the vet soon to get his shots (and
hopefully neutered).
Update on Scruffy:
Scruffy has a forever home with his rescuers and
foster family. As you can see from his pictures, with quality vet care, he
has made a huge recovery. He is learning to be a member of his pack, play,
and trust again. PLEASE HELP with Scruff's medical care costs
or other's like him who need extensive rehabilitation.
